Our Services

1
One to One Tutoring
We take a comprehensive and collaborative approach in creating a plan and program that is personalised for every student. All children are different and will have varying strengths and weaknesses. Adjusting our tuition to different personalities and specific academic needs, we always find what works best. For the maximum benefit, one-to one tutoring takes place face to face, in person.
2
Small Group Tutoring
(2-5 children per group)
Learning with a peer can often be a successful approach to tuition as children can work with each other to understand and solve problems together. Unlike some other tutoring services offering large group sizes of 10-20 students, we do believe that small groups work best. We limit the class sizes to a maximum of 5 children to ensure that each child can also receive the individual help and assistance that they need. Group tutoring takes place face to face, in person, in a classroom setting.
3
Mock Exams
We offer monthly practice and mock exams to help prepare your child for the real thing. These take place on the last weekend of each month and are run under timed, exam conditions and followed by comprehensive analysis and group, peer-to-peer discussion. Not only are they a valuable learning experience but they also help reduce any stress or anxiety a child may have about the actual exam as they will know what to expect and be more confident going into it. You do not need to be a regular student to attend a mock exam session.
Who We Are
We specialise in preparing students for success in the 11 Plus grammar school, and private school, exams. By building knowledge, confidence, and exam techniques our 11 Plus tutoring service provides the necessary ingredients to not only achieve outstanding results in the tests but also to build a foundation for future learning for the rest of a child's academic life.

What is the 11 Plus?
The 11 Plus (also called the 11+ or Eleven Plus) is an exam taken by some pupils, usually early on in their last year of primary school. The exam is used by schools in certain areas of the UK as a means of selecting for grammar schools.
Although the 11 Plus exam varies from county to county, each exam usually tests for Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. Typically, students are expected to sit three papers:
- A multiple choice reasoning paper
- A multiple choice literacy and numeracy paper
- A written exercise
The two multiple choice papers are marked electronically by an automated marking machine. However, the written exercise isn’t normally marked and is typically only looked at in cases of appeal.
Does my child need a tutor?
Grammar schools (and many selective independents) select their pupils on the strength of their performance in the 11 Plus examination. This exam tests applicants on English and maths, verbal reasoning (VR) and non-verbal reasoning (NVR), something your child may need help with.
Verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests are designed to assess aptitude rather than knowledge, while maths and English build on what's already been learnt at school.
There is massive competition for places, which is why so many people use 11 Plus tutors for preparation and exam help.
Tutoring for the 11 Plus focuses on verbal and non-verbal reasoning, and maths and English practice papers so pupils can see how questions are phrased and how they need to answer the questions.

When should my child begin tutoring?
Parents generally fall into one of 3 categories when embarking upon their 11 Plus tutoring journey:
Early Adopters – those who begin tuition for their child in the early part of Year 4 or below.
One Year Planners – those who begin their tuition at the start of Year 5, one year before the test
Late Entrants – those who embark upon their journey a little later on with only a few months, weeks, or even days before the exam
No matter what group you fall in there is plenty that we can do to prepare your child for the 11+ test with tutoring, without the process becoming stressful for either of you.
